IV Vitamin Therapy

IV Therapy involves administering therapeutic doses of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids safely into the blood stream.  The greatest advantage of IV Therapy is that if offers maximal absorption and delivers higher doses of nutrients to the tissues by bypassing the digestive system.  Therefore, healing can occur much faster than taking the same nutrients orally through supplements or diet.

IV Therapy is quickly becoming one of the most popular and effective ways to restore energy and digestive health, support the immune system, and boost athletic performance.

Who Can Benefit from IV Vitamin Therapy?

IV Therapy is part of a complete treatment plan that Dr. Misa provides for her patients with a variety of medical conditions and health goals:

  • Chronic or short-term fatigue

  • Stress & Burnout

  • Impaired digestion reducing nutrient absorption

  • Immune support

  • Allergies

  • Wound repair (pre/post surgery)

  • Sports performance and recovery

  • Migraines

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Joint pain and inflammation

  • General health maintenance

What's on the Menu?

Energy Bag

Building muscle mass is the best way to increase your metabolism. Getting enough protein will support muscle growth and hormone balance.

Immune Bag

Macro-based eating will ensure you fuel your body with the nutrients it needs as you work to reduce your portion sizes.

Joint Support

Intermittent fasting gives you more control over your meal times, helps avoid skipping meals and combats late evening snacking.

Mind Chill

Rest is key for repair, growth and detoxification. The stress hormone cortisol, is responsible for increased sugar cravings, abdominal fat, and the breakdown of muscle.

Mind Chill

Food sensitivities causing inflammation in the gut can affect your metabolism and decrease the absorption of key energy nutrients like iron and vitamin B12.

Tissue Repair

A little biochemistry lesson: water molecules are required in lipolysis - the process of breaking down and metabolizing stored fat for energy.

Each of these factors are taken into account when developing your unique, realistic weight loss plan. I focus on re-creating healthy eating habits, long-term weight loss and improving metabolism using portions based on macros (proteins, carbs, fats), intermittent fasting and anti-inflammatory foods.

I'm Interested!  How Do I Get Started with IV Vitamin Therapy?

  1. Book an IV Prep Health Check with Dr. Misa.  She will review your health goals, perform a physical exam, and discuss which IV formula would be suitable for you.  The cost of this visit is $80.

  2. Pre-IV Bloodwork. In order to keep you safe and adhere to the Ontario Naturopathic regulations, routine bloodwork is required (within 12 months) before starting IV Therapy.  This bloodwork can be requested from your family MD or Dr. Misa can order it for you.  The cost of bloodwork is approximately $40 if ordered by Dr. Misa and may be covered under your extended health benefits.

  3. Book your IV Therapy appointment.  Once your bloodwork has been reviewed by Dr. Misa, our front staff will contact you to book your IV Therapy session.  The appointment takes approximately 60 min. during which you can sit back and relax, read a book, sort your photo album, catch up on your favourite podcast, or take a nap!

  4. Referrals. If you are a registered health care practitioner and would like to make a referral for your patient to receive IV Therapy, please fill out this form and fax it to our office at (905) 773-5847.

Preparing For Your IV Therapy Appointment

Dress Comfortably.  Please wear a shirt that can roll up above your elbow to allow easy access to your arm.  IV therapy generally takes about 60 minutes so you’ll want to wear something you’ll be comfortable sitting in for that time period.

Hydrate.  While it seems counterintuitive to hydrate before a therapy whose entire purpose is to provide you with hydration and nutrients, it’s actually very important to drink plenty of water before your IV therapy session.  The more hydrated you are the more easily accessible your veins are, making for a more comfortable treatment.  Aim to drink at least 2-3 glasses of water before your appointment.

Have Something to Eat.  It’s a good idea to have a high protein snack or meal before your IV (you can also bring something to eat during your IV if you like).  Some of the vitamins and minerals can have a temporary blood sugar and blood pressure lowering effect which can cause you to feel a little light-headed, dizzy, nauseous and/or faint during or after your IV if you haven’t eaten.

Get Moving.  If we are sedentary right before an IV, our vessels may be more difficult to access.  Moving around (if this is physically possible for you) is one of the best things you can do to help ensure a successful treatment.

Avoid Over-The-Counter Medications.  If you can, avoid antihistamine and decongestant drugs for 24 hours before your IV.  These medications have a constricting effect on your blood vessels which can sometimes make it more challenging to access your veins.  The use of Advil or aspirin can increase bruising.  If you can’t avoid them, be sure to hydrate, have a snack and move a bit before you get seated.

Allow Yourself Enough Time.  Give yourself enough time to arrive so you can relax and use the restroom prior to your treatment.
